The unshielded gargant was taking heavy fire now and before its crew could fire the freshly belly gun a massive explosive rocked the entire vehicle as one of the pylons fired an energy beam into its body and prematurely detonated the belly gun’s entire stockpile of ammunition.

Hundreds of greenskins were caught inside the burning gargant and as the flames spread they began to panic and rushed for the exits. Or in some cases those armed with heavy weapons made their own way out.

From his position in the head of the other gargant Kazkal watched as orks flowed from every possible escape route, some of them finding themselves high above the ground and jumping. Not all of these made it safely to the ground and some of those that did were promptly run over by one of the hoard of lighter vehicles that had been sheltering behind the gargant’s bulk but that were now rushing to escape before it could explode. In turn the beams from the necron pylons swept through these vehicles as they emerged and turned them to scrap.

Kazkal just shook his head.

“Boss look!” one of the gargant crew yelled, “Da kans! Da kans is gonna get ‘em!”

Kazkal turned to look out of the other side of the gargant and he saw a group of much smaller walkers striding towards one of the pylons. Each of the four-armed machines held a single ork that was permanently linked to his vehicle, while numerous smaller two-armed variants that held gretchin pilots swarmed around them. Most of them carried some sort of heavy ranged weapon, but even the most powerful of these had little hope of damaging the pylon they were advancing towards. However, every single one of the armoured walkers carried a massive version of Kazkal’s powerclaw or some other implement of close in destruction. With some many they could not help but tear the alien structure apart Kazkal knew.

“Get ‘em lads!” he shouted, but his face fell as the pylons close in defences finally responded to this new threat and lightning leapt from walker to walker. The vehicles shuddered as the lightning flowed inside and began to strip the flesh from their helpless operators. Then starting with the smaller gretchin piloted vehicles the dreadnoughts burst apart one by one, scattering pieces of themselves and their operators all around.

“Da belly gun’s loaded boss!” the mekboy yelled from the speaking tube and Kazkal snarled.

“Let ‘em ‘ave it.” He hissed.

The gargant rocked from the recoil as the massive shell was fired. Once more the targeted pylon’s defences reacted as if the shell were just another target and attempted to bring it down. This time however, there was a slight fracture in the tip of the shell and the alien energy wormed its way inside and detonated it prematurely. But the shell had got close enough to the pylon that the structure was still enveloped by the blast and although the cloud of smoke and flame obscured it, the sudden cessation of activity from the pylon told Kazkal that his gargant had just made another kill.

Lights appeared through the cloud of smoke left behind in the wake of the pylon’s destruction. First just a handful, but then many more and as the cloud began to retreat Kazkal saw a swarm of necron warriors marching forwards with several open topped vehicles following behind.

“So dey does ‘ave some lads left after all.” Kazkal said to himself. Then speaking much louder he issued an order, “Tell da lads to attack.” He said, “Turn ‘em to scrap.”

By weaving between the hills rather than simply driving straight over them Hazug hoped to approach the necron tomb unobserved. But as he drove alongside a particularly steep incline he saw debris rolling down towards them.

“Up dare!” he shouted, extending a finger to point at where he guessed whoever had just caused the debris to fall was located. Behind him Thuggrim brought the truck’s gun to bare while those other passengers with guns took aim.

But the attack came not from above but behind, between Hazug’s truck and the battlewagon as a massive multi-legged machine creature burst out of the ground.

“Crap!” both of Two Heads exclaimed in unison as he brought his weapon to bear and began to fire on the thing.

Undoubtedly of necron construction, the machine resembled a massive metal centipede that shrugged off the gunfire from both of the battlewagon’s twin automatic guns and also The burst that Thuggrim fired into the creature’s back.

Emitting a high pitched chirping sound, the massive creature dropped onto the front of the battlewagon, getting swept along with the heavy vehicle. Two Head rolled out of the gunner’s position, barely managing to grab hold of an exhaust pipe to prevent himself from falling beneath the battlewagon’s tracks.

He banged on the side hatch with his foot.

“Open da bleedin’ door!” he yelled.

“Open da door!” Gorrid repeated from the driver’s seat, “Da boss needs to get in.”

An ork rushed forwards and released the hatch. With the battlewagon still moving at speed, the hatch was ripped free of the vehicle as soon as it hit the ground. But with a large hole now right beside him, Two Heads was able to swing himself back inside the battlewagon.

“Nice one Fangnat.” He said to the ork who had just ruined the hatchway to save him. There was screaming from above and Two Heads was sprayed with blood from the other ork who had been occupying a gunner’s position as he was ripped apart by the necron creature.

“Kragglat!” Two Heads yelled.

“Wot boss?” Kragglat replied from the main turret.

“Ya can use da kannon now.”

Kragglat had to move the turret only a tiny amount to bring the main gun to bare on the necron creature perched on top of the battlewagon. At the sound of the movement the creature looked towards the turret and found itself staring directly down the barrel of the cannon.

“Wait for da flash.” Kragglat muttered and he pulled the firing lever.

Kragglat had already loaded an armour-piercing round into the cannon when preparing to engage the passing necron vehicles and given the distance between the muzzle of the cannon and the necron’s face being measured in mere centimetres it came as no surprise when the round punched a jagged hole all the way through it’s head. The necron shuddered as sparks flew from the hole and its systems made a brief but vain attempt to repair the damage done. Then the lifeless remains of the machine creature rolled sideways and fell from the battlewagon’s roof.

However, as the wreckage hit the ground but before the inbuilt teleportation system could kick in to remove it from the battlefield the battlewagon sped over it. Much of the metal was ground into the dirt beneath the tracks, but enough became wedged in the battlewagon’s running gear that one of the drive wheels was torn free and the track shredded. Suffering a sudden loss of power to one side, Gorrid was helpless to prevent the battlewagon spinning out of control until it came to a sudden halt and the engine stalled.

“Geddout!” one of Two Heads yelled as he grabbed his rifle before dashing for the gaping hole where the hatch had been torn free and jumped down to the ground below. Outside he lifted the weapon to his shoulder and aimed upwards, expecting whatever Hazug and Thuggrim had been aiming at to suddenly take advantage of the battlewagon’s plight.

Most of the other Evil Suns in the battlewagon followed their leader and disembarked, preparing to repel a second attack. Only three remained inside to crew the vehicle’s weapons.

In front and behind the battlewagon the other two vehicles in the group also came to a halt, the crew of the rhino searching for something to shoot at while Hazug brought his truck back around.

“Wot’s da story?” Hazug asked from his truck as he pulled up along side the battlewagon.

Mek Batrug was bent over beside the damaged track and he looked back up at Hazug and Two Heads.
”Da wagon’s bust.” He said simply, “I aint got da gubbins to fix it out ‘ere. Not in da time we got anyhow.”

“Bugs!” Thuggrim suddenly yelled out from the top of the truck and he opened fire, sending a hail of heavy bullets upwards towards the top of the incline.

The rest of the warband all looked upwards and sure enough a cloud of metal insects was swarming toward them.

“Let rip!” Two Heads ordered even as the others were taking aim anyway.

The warband opened fire, using every weapon at their disposal to target the growing cloud of necron scarabs. Both of the vehicle mounted cannons spat explosive death and blasted massive gaps in the cloud. But these weapons were slow firing and in the interval between shots more scarabs appeared to take the place of those destroyed.

Both Salia and Sophie joined in the shooting. Sophie fired her lasgun on fully automatic, just as the orks were doing with their own weapons. But when Salia attempted to copy this nothing happened.

“Its not working!” she exclaimed.

“The safety mon-keigh!” Mayleth shouted and Salia looked down to where she had accidentally left the weapon’s safety catch enabled.

“Come on sis,” Sophie said as Salia released the safety and took aim again, “We went through this.”

“Well I’m sorry,” Salia replied, “This is my first battle you know.”

“I seen dese before.” Gorgoga said to Hazug as the cloud drew closer, “Dey aint so tough but dare’s loads of ‘em.”

“Stikkbomms!” Hazug shouted, “Use stikkbomms on ‘em!” and he jumped down from the driver’s seat and ran to the back of the truck. There Ratish was dragging a box towards him and when the gretchin was within reach he opened the box and began to pass the grenades it contained to his master.

“Ratish got da bomms master.” He said gleefully as Hazug too the first grenade and pulled out the pin.

Throughout the warband orks began to hurl grenades at the oncoming cloud.

“Get down!” Sophie exclaimed, pushing Salia to the floor of the truck as she too took cover. She acted just in time as the first grenade detonated and in the rocky terrain fragments began to fly back as far as the ork vehicles. Too small to bother the orks, they still had the potential to injure less durable creatures such as eldar, gretchin and humans.

Angered by the noise, Cuddles began to tug at his leash and leapt down to the ground, snarling at the necron swarm as he tried to break free.

“Stay back!” Hazug told the squig as he hurled another grenade and Ratish reached out to drag Cuddles back into the truck.

Abruptly the cloud sudden ceased pouring over the top of the incline and as the orks used more of their explosives it rapidly thinned out until the warband found themselves looking at the remains of thousands of the scarabs, all destroyed.

“Did we just win?” Salia asked.

“I think so.” Sophie replied.

“It was da orks wot won!” Ratish snapped, “Ya just ‘id. Useless gits.”

“Get ready lads.” Gorgoga said, flexing the arm on which he wore his powerclaw.

“Wot ya goin’ on about?” one of Two Heads asked.

“We took out da bugs at me mine.” Gorgoga answered, “Dat was when da necrons sent in dare tough lads.”

“I’ll go look boss!” one of the Evil Suns yelled and he began to run up the slope in front of them, crunching ruined insects beneath his feet.

“No Klognot!” Two Heads shouted, “Wait for-“ but before he could finish his warning a large spider-like machine appeared at the top of the incline. Twin beams of energy spat from the weapons it carried beneath it armoured body, converging on Klognot and blasting him apart.

The orks opened fire again, and there were sparks as the bullets from their rifles bounced harmlessly off the spider’s thick armour.

The thing began to move down the slope with its legs flexing but not actually touching the ground as it glided towards the orks in mid air, apparently possessing the same antigravity technology as so many other types of necron machine.

Salia stopped shooting  as the power cell of her lasgun was depleted and turned around, resting her back against the side of the truck as she fumbled with a replacement. Then she glanced upwards towards the top of the incline on the other side of the truck and her jaw dropped as she saw two more of the spider machines approaching silently from behind the warband.

“Up there!” she shouted, waving at the approaching machines.

“I’ll ‘andle dis!” Drazzok snapped, clambering down from the truck and taking up a position between it and the two spiders. He lifted his staff up off the ground and pointed it towards the nearest spider and gave out a shout, “Waaagh!” green lightning shot from the end of his staff and sped towards the spider. But before the psychic attack could reach the machine Drazzok suddenly felt his power drain away, “Well dat aint right.” He said as he staggered back and slumped down on the ground.

Two more of the spiders appeared, in front of and behind the ork vehicles to surround them completely.

“Dey’s everywhere!” one of the Evil Suns shouted as he emptied an entire magazine into the spider approaching from behind the convoy.

“Den dare’s plenty to shoot at aint dare?” Two Heads replied loudly, then the other head added, “Come on lads. We needs dem kannons!”

Almost immediately the large weapon added to the rhino boomed as it sent a shell towards the two spiders drifting gracefully down the slope. The shell landed directly between them and both of the machines were pushed aside as it detonated and sprayed them both with fire and molten shrapnel. One of the spiders was more seriously damaged than the other and it dropped to the ground, halting while its self-repair systems busied themselves in undoing the harm inflicted upon it. Meanwhile the second spider turned to face the rhino and brought its twin energy weapons into firing position.

But before it could return fire on the rhino all of the belt fed weapons on all three vehicles opened fire on it. Its armoured body already damaged by the heavy shell from the rhino, the spider shook under the torrent of heavy bullets and the bolts from its weapons were sent wide of their target. Its armour began to crack as the hail of bullets continued, then the cracks became holes as the bullets punched their way through and finally the spider came crashing down and burst into flames before fading to nothing.

“Two down lads!” Two Heads bellowed.

“Give us me choppa!” Hazug snapped and he reached out as Sophie dragged his warscythe towards him, struggling with the weight of the alien weapon.

“Come on Gorgoga,” he said, “let’s go smash dese things up.” Then he looked up at Thuggrim, “Oi Thuggrim! Give dat one a burst to distract it long enough for us to get close.” And he pointed to the spider approaching from in front of the convoy.

Thuggrim nodded and turned his weapon to point at the indicated spider and opened fire. Meanwhile Hazug and Gorgoga began to rush forwards, holding their powerful close combat weapons out in front of them.

If Thuggrim could just keep the spider distracted then they should have no trouble in tearing it apart, Hazug thought to himself.

There was another flash as the first spider to have appeared fired again, this time aiming for the battlewagon’s turret. The shot struck its target, but the thick armour plating there prevented it from damaging the weapon and inside Kragglat now aimed the gun towards his attacker.

“Kop dis.” He said to himself as he fired an armour-piercing shell. The round just clipped the spider, tearing the legs from one side. But it was enough to make the machine drop to the ground with its remaining legs flailing.

“It’s down! Come on!” one of the Evil Suns shouted and along with the ork stood beside him he drew his axe and charged up the slope, “Waaagh!” he yelled, his axe raised high above his head. He brought his axe down on one of the spider’s remaining legs, striking a vulnerable point at a joint and severing the limb. But even as both orks roared in triumph the spider suddenly rose back up and lunged forwards, its mechanical jaws reaching out towards the orks. The jaws clamped around the waist of the ork who had struck the blow and tightened so rapidly that they cut him in half. Then the spider released the dying ork and drove its jaws into his comrade, punching through his ribcage and impaling his heart.

Two Heads looked around, hoping to find some inspiration for how to deal with the spiders. At first nothing came to him, but then he caught sight of Hazug’s custom rifle lying in the back of his truck.

“Give us dat!” he snapped as he ran tot eh truck and grabbed the weapon.
”Dat master’s!” Ratish snapped, but then he recoiled backwards as Two Heads both just snarled at him, “But Ratish’ll let ya borrow it.” He added meekly.

Two Heads took aim at the heavily damaged spider and fired a burst, sending a full magazine of the explosive bolt rounds at the machine. But even in its damaged state the spider was able to shrug off this attack.

“Not like dat!” the head that had not just fired the rifle snapped, “Use da rokkit!”

“I knows dat!” the other head snapped back and he reached for the other trigger.

The rocket shot from beneath the rifle barrel and flew straight at the spider, striking it right between its jaws. The warhead detonated immediately and blew the head off the spider. This time, when it fell to the ground it did not get back up.

Ahead of the convoy the spider approaching down the track had been struggling to interpret all of the data being fed to its brain by its sensors. The continuously stream of bullets that Thuggrim was directing at it was swamping it with data and it was only when his weapon ran out of ammunition that the spider was able to scan the area around it properly once more.

The first thing it saw was Hazug and Gorgoga as they both jumped down towards it.

“Waaagh!” Hazug bellowed and with a swing of his warscythe he cut one of the spiders own weapons from its body.

Gorgoga followed quickly with a blow delivered to the spider’s back, breaking open its armour. Sparks danced across the machine’s back and Hazug saw pulsing lights from inside its body.

He lifted his warscythe up high and angled it downwards, them he thrust the tip of his weapon down through the breach made by Gorgoga and twisted the weapon as it skewered the spider.

The machine let out a brief electronic squeal and shuddered as Hazug pulled his warscythe free. Then the glow in the spider’s eyes went out and it faded to nothing before it could even fall to the ground.

“Da one behind us is getting’ closer boss!” Gorrid called out, pointing at the spider approaching from their rear. Unlike the other machines this one seemed to lack the under slung energy weapons and was positioned primarily to stop the orks from withdrawing the way they had come.

“Spread out lads!” Two Heads yelled as he ran back to the truck to reclaim his own rifle and the orks began to form a line that stretched across the track and up the inclines to each side, “Now let rip!”

The orks fired in unison, concentrating their attention on this one remaining spider. Though each shot that struck the spider was like a pinprick the machine was being fired on not only by the automatic weapons mounted on each vehicle but also most of the remaining warband on foot, including all of Hazug’s servants. Thus it was inevitable that at least some of the shots would strike the machine’s more vulnerable joints and sensory devices.

Calculating that it would have sustained critical damage before getting close enough to strike at the orks, the spider changed tactics and came to a sudden halt. It lowered itself close to the ground, angled its more heavily armoured body towards the orks and began to scrape at the track with its claws.

“Look at dat!” an ork yelled as he reloaded his rifle, “It’s diggin’ it own grave!”

In fact the spider was separating out the more useful trace elements to be found in the ground beneath it. Then by injecting in some further materials held within its own internal reservoirs and providing enough energy to jump-start them it began to produce a fresh swarm of scarabs.

Unlike the massive swarm that had been easy to target, the spider launched these freshly made scarabs towards the orks individually and the first one of the tiny metal creatures came as a complete surprise to them, its fangs tearing open the throat of an ork before he even realised what it was that was flying towards him.

“Use ya choppas!” Hazug bellowed as he and Gorgoga saw what was happening and ran as fast as he could towards the other orks.

Orks needed little encouragement to switch to hand-to-hand combat and the warband simply dropped their rifles where they stood. Only Salia and Sophie kept hold of their rifles, neither having much faith in their abilities to fight off the scarabs with the knives they carried.

“It just keeps makin’ more!” Ratish yelled as he stomped on a scarab and then smashed what remained with a rock picked up from track.

Two Heads looked around, wondering why neither of the heavy cannons on his vehicles had fired yet. Immediately he saw that the spider that had been damaged earlier had taken advantage of the distraction provided by its comrade to finish repairs to its body and was now charging towards them.

“Da wagons!” he yelled, “Support da wagons!”

Even as he shouted out his warning the charging spider slammed into the side of the rhino and the whole vehicle rocked.

“We got it!” Hazug shouted, “Ya just focus on dem bugs!”

The rhino’s driver tried to put some distance between his vehicle and the spider, accelerating as fast as he could manage and driving the rhino up the opposite incline. But spider simply charged after it and with a single swing of a clawed leg it ripped the rear hatch open.

The shocked ork operating the turret looked around as he felt the sudden rush or air and, seeing the spider dragging itself inside the rhino he reached for his pistol. But the spider was too quick and it simply extended its head upwards and bit him in half.

The other two orks crewing the rhino panicked as they found themselves sharing the cramped vehicle with the giant mechanical spider.

“Let get outta ‘ere!” the driver yelled, letting go of the controls and scrabbling towards the nearest of the thatches above him. Already sticking out of the other hatch, the other ork simply lifted himself up and leapt from the still moving rhino. But the rhino was now uncontrolled and just as the ork tried to jump to safety the vehicle struck a rock at speed and flipped over. Rather than being able to jump to safety, the unfortunate ork was instead crushed to death by his own vehicle.

Inside the driver was thrown backwards as the vehicle suddenly rolled over and he only prevented himself from sliding all the way to the rear hatch by grabbing hold of the seat he had just abandoned. The wind knocked from him, he looked up to see the necron spider looking back down at him. The machine spread its jaws wide open and the had just enough time to scream.

With the rhino now out of commission, the spider began to back out of the vehicle and turned around to search for a new target. But as it’s completed its turn it found itself staring right into the faces of Gorgoga and Hazug.

“Kop dis!” Gorgoga yelled and using his powerclaw he delivered the strongest punch he could, right into the spider’s face. The blow smashed sensory devices as well as cracking open the alien machine’s metal skull and sparks flew from within.

Hazug roared and followed up Gorgoga’s strike with a swing of his own warscythe and the spider’s body was split wide open. Gorgoga struck again, this time delivering a blow to the split opened up by Hazug. He rammed his powerclaw deep into the spider’s innards and tightened his grip. The machine shook, thrashing its legs about wildly and when Gorgoga withdrew his powerclaw he still had a handful of its components in his grip.

Hazug was about to deliver one final blow to finish off the spider when it simply collapsed to the ground and remained still. There were more sparks from the machinery in Gorgoga’s grip and he let go of it. As the piece fell towards the ground it glowed green and then vanished.

“Looks like ya ripped out its teleporta.” Hazug said, noticing that the rest of the spider’s wreckage was still lying at their feet.

Turning around, Gorgoga and Hazug saw the warband still battling against the steady stream of scarabs being created by the final spider. Thuggrim and the two orks operating the battlewagon’s automatic weapons were firing at the spider itself, but their rounds appeared to be having no effect against its heavily armoured hide.

“Why aint da kannon firin’?” Gorgoga asked. The battlewagon’s primary turret was pointing directly at the spider, but for some reason the gun remained silent.

“Let’s go find out.” Hazug said and he ran towards the vehicle, Gorgoga following him.

The hatches of the battlewagon were still open when the pair reached the heavy vehicle and Hazug rushed up the rear that brought him inside the vehicle right beneath its turret. Looking up he saw Kragglat struggling with the gun.

“Why aint ya shootin’?” Hazug demanded.

“It’s jammed.” Kragglat replied, “I can’t get da old shell case out of da back.”

“Den forget it.” Hazug told him, “Grab ya shoota and go join da others.” And he was about to turn and leave the battlewagon when he spotted a crate shoved beneath one of the benches inside the battlewagon. The crate was marked in human lettering and was identical to several that he had himself. Owing to the limited space in his truck he had left them all at home though.

“Is dare ought in dat?” Hazug asked Kragglat as he climbed down form the turret and he pointed at the crate.

“I reckon so.” Kragglat replied, “Da boss ‘ad us load it just in case we needed it at da mine.”

“Wot is it?” Gorgoga asked, looking past Hazug at the crate.

Hazug bent down and ran his finger along the markings.

‘LAUNCHER, MISSILE, HYROS PATTERN.’

“Dis says dat its just wot we needs.” He said and he pulled the crate from beneath the bench.

Hazug and Kragglat carried the crate down the ramp and dropped on the ground.

“D’ya knows ‘ow to use dis?” Hazug asked and Kragglat nodded.

“Da boss showed us.” He said, “But ‘e wouldn’t let us use up any of da rokkits so I aint fired one for real before.”

“Dat’s fine.” Hazug said, opening the crate and removing the bulky tube-shaped weapon inside, “Ya just needs to aim, I’ll let ya know when ya can fire.”

As Kragglat hefted the weapon onto his shoulder Hazug looked at the row of missiles contained within the crate also. They had different shaped tips that Hazug knew to indicate the different types of warhead they carried, those with a narrow point were designed for use against tanks and produced very little blast while the bulkier one would spread shrapnel over a wide area and were better for blasting large holes in lighter structures. It was one of these that he selected.

“Don’t aim for da spider.” He said to Kragglat as he inserted the missile into the back of the launcher until he heard a ‘click’ as it slotted into place, “Put it into da ground up da slope above it. Goddit?”

Kragglat nodded and Hazug stepped away from the back of the weapons, knowing that it would produce a massive back blast.

“Okay go.” Hazug said and Kragglat took aim.

The Evil Sun snatched the trigger of the weapon and it kicked in his grip as there was a ‘whoosh’ and the missile shot from the weapon.

Taken by surprise, Two Heads ducked as the missile sped over his head and he felt the heat of its motor. Just as Hazug had instructed Kragglat had aimed for a spot above the necron spider and when the missile slammed into the ground it detonated immediately. The blast hurled dirt and rocks into the air, but more importantly it severely loosened the ground around its point of impact and given the steepness of the slope at this point it gave way entirely.

There was a sudden roar as the loosened ground slid down towards the spider. Sensing danger, the machine lifted its head to see what was happening but was only just able to see the approaching landslide as it rolled over it.

Hazug then dashed forwards, stopping when he reached the warband members standing in a line.

“So is it dead?” Sophie asked and Hazug stared at the pile of rubble where the spider had been.

“I don’t think so.” Hazug replied, “Look, I can still see its legs kickin’.”

Sure enough the tips of the spider’s legs could be seen protruding through the rubble slowly moving about at random it seemed.

“Right den!” Mek Batrug announced, “Let’s go take a look at it den.” And he strode forwards towards the spider, his pistol in one hand and the other rummaging through his bag until he took out a large hammer. The others went after Batrug, partly out of curiosity and to offer help if the spider put up a fight.

By the time they reached the pile of rubble the spider’s movements had cleared enough to reveal part of its structure. The spider was upside down beneath the rubble and instead of the thickly armoured carapace the mechanism normally concealed beneath it was exposed. Two Heads both grinned at the sight of this, especially since in several places the spider’s outer casing was split to reveal its inner workings.

“So its still workin’ den.” One of him said out loud.

“Aye.” Batrug said, “It’ll dig itself out given enough time.”

Two Heads promptly jammed the muzzle of his rifle against one of the damaged parts of the spider and pulled the trigger, holding it down until the weapon clicked empty. Unimpeded by the spider’s outer armour the bullet smashed through the machine’s internal workings until they struck the armour plating on the far side and bounced off, thus the spider’s own armour worked against it as the bullets were trapped inside and continued to wreak havoc until they finally lost all of their energy. The spider’s partially exposed legs shuddered one last time and then stopped moving. However, this time the spider did not fade away as it teleported back to the necron tomb, the burst of fire from Two Heads’ weapon having disabled that system before it could be triggered.

“Well its dead now.” One of Two Heads said, smiling and then the other one added,” Yeah, and we got a souvenir an’ all.”
