A group of orks in the red of the Evil Suns ran to the rows of battlewagons and roared in anger when they saw the damage that had been inflicted. Tyres and tracks had been slashed by combat blades while controls or engine parts had been torn out or bent out shape to jam them.

“Dis one’s workin’!” an Evil Sun yelled as he started up the engine on one of the larger battlewagons. But as he shifted it into gear there was a sudden ‘ping!’ as something metal was thrown across the cabin and the ork looked down just in time to see the grenade roll out from where it had been hidden, “Aw-“ he began before the grenade exploded, taking the battlewagon and all of the nearby orks with it.

Gorgoga and his armoured orks jumped down from their truck and formed a single line, pressing the bulky shields they carried together to form a single uninterrupted line of metal for protection.
”Advance!” Gorgoga shouted and in unison the unit of Goffs began to move forwards.

“Give ‘em some cover!” Hazug shouted when he saw sparks as bullets bounced off their shields and he lifted his rifle and fired several short bursts towards nearby windows where he saw orks firing out at them.

Thuggrim opened up the small pouch he kept around his neck and removed the bionic eye he kept inside. Then he lifted the patch from over his empty eye socket and inserted the bionic one, a humming sound indicating that it was on line.
”Right den.” The ork nob said to Jarr as he lifted his custom rifle to his shoulder and adopted a stance similar to the human assassin, “Let’s see which of us is da best shot shall we?”

“What did he say?” Jarr asked Sophie.

“He wants to know which of you can shoot better.” Sophie replied.

“Oh.” Jarr said and he reacted by putting a bullet through an ork perched on top of a nearby building.

Thuggrim frowned and aimed at a second ork in a similar position on a different building, but when he pulled his trigger he was rewarded with nothing but a ‘click’.

“Dis might ‘elp.” Hazug said and he reached to Thuggrim’s belt where he kept the ammunition for his weapon. Then he looked back towards the squiggoths. The two surviving beasts had ceased their controlled charge towards the gates and were now heading in a different direction.

“Two Heads!” he yelled towards the battlewagon.
”Wot?” one of Two Heads responded.

“We can’t just stay ‘ere while dey gets organised.” Hazug said, “Rell’s lads is takin’ dat buildin’ over dare so dey can ‘old da gate. I wants ya to go and make sure dat all of da wagons is taken out while I takes Gorgorga’s lads as well as me own and ‘ead round da other way.” Then he looked towards Krorden’s two remaining war buggies and waved at them. Krorden swerved towards Hazug and brought his buggy to halt right in front of him.
”Wotcha want?” he asked.

“I wants ya to go with Batrug and ‘is burnaboys.” Hazug told him, “Dese genestealers ‘as ‘ad dare lads buldin’ somethin’ over da other side of da camp and I wants to know wot. Take it out if ya can or just make sure dat anyone protectin’ is gets shot up if ya can’t.”
”Goddit.” Krorden replied and he accelerated away, driving up to the truck holding Batrug and his apprentices to explain the plan.

“Well wotcha all waitin’ for?” Hazug asked as he looked around at his commandoes, servants and the madboys, “We got genestealers to find.”

As it happened Runnug already had a sizeable force of orks ready to launch a counter attack and he marched at the head of a mob of more than a hundred orks towards the gateway. But such a force made a considerable amount of noise and Hazug heard its approach before he saw it.

“Gorgoga, we needs a wall right across ‘ere.” He said and Gorgoga nodded.

“Ya ‘ear ‘im lads.” He said, ” Line up and get dem shields in place.” And his troops promptly began to spread out into a single line again with their shields forming a wall that blocked off the gap between the buildings to either side.

The Hazug turned to Drazzok.
”I’ll take me lads and try an’ get around wotever’s marchin’ towards us.” He said, “Ya stay ‘ere with Thuggrim’s lot and keep ‘em right in front of ya.”

“Yeah, I gets it.” Drazzok replied,” We does da fightin’ while ya does da sneakin’ about. Now get goin’.”

Hazug grinned and turned to leave just as Runnug and the front rank of his force appeared ahead of them.

“Throne!” Jarr exclaimed, “There must be more than a hundred of them.”
Mayleth smiled and leant closer to whisper into his ear.

“If you were looking for a fair fight mon’keigh then perhaps we should wait for them to get reinforcements.” She told him.
”Never mind dat.” Hazug said, “Gorgoga and Thuggrim’ll slow ‘em down while we gets around behind ‘em.” And he began to run back the way they had come.

“Master! Wait for Ratish!” Ratish shouted before Cuddles began to drag him after Hazug.

Meanwhile Drazzok, Gorgoga and Thuggrim stared over the shield wall between them and Runnug’s force as it gathered in front of them, some taking shots at the orks behind their shields while the rest waited for the order to attack. In the centre of the line one of the armoured orks was hit, a pistol bullet passing through the hole set into his shield as a viewport and he fell backwards.

Thuggrim promptly shoved one of his madboys towards the fallen ork.

“Pick dat shield dup and plug dat ‘ole.” He ordered and the madboy did as he was told, pulling the fallen ork’s shield from his arm and holding up in the gap in the line. Unfortunately he held the shield upside down and so the hole was located down by his feet while he was rendered unable to see the mob facing them.

“Reckon ya got it in ya to punch an ‘ole in dat lot?” Gorgoga said to Drazzok and the weirdboy frowned.

“I aint gettin’ any power from dem.” He said.
”Den we’ll just ‘ave to give ya a boost won’t we?” Gorgoga replied and he turned to Thuggrim, “Grab ‘im and take aim.” He said.

“Great one!” Thuggrim exclaimed, “Your time is at hand to save all orkdom as is ya destiny.”

“Destiny? Wotcha mean ya loony?” Drazzok asked before the madboys lifted him off his feet and Thuggrim snatched away his staff, “Hey wait!” Drazzok snapped, “Dis aint-“ but then he was interrupted as Gorgoga tilted his head back and roared.

“Waaargh!” he bellowed.
”Waaargh!” both his armoured troops and the madboys repeated and Drazzok felt the power from their psychic field growing.
”Aw crap.” He said, “’Ere it comes.” And then he vomited green lightning.

The energy blast was poorly aimed at first, the bolts of lightning dancing across one of the nearby buildings and causing it to burst into flames. However the madboys were able to twist Drazzok around so that he faced Runnug’s force and the lightning struck then flowed through their midst, leaping from ork to ork and there were screams of pain along with the smell of burnt flesh from those most heavily affected as the skin was burned off their bodies.

“Charge!” Runnug yelled as he struggled to overcome the pain of the lightning still coursing across his body and the genestealer controlled orks who had not been incapacitated or killed by the psychic strike charged towards the shield wall.

“Let rip!” Gorgoga shouted and his orks held their pistols over their shields or through the holes in them that allowed the bearer to see through them and opened fire at the oncoming hoard.

“Ya ‘eard dat ‘ardboy nob!” Thuggrim yelled at the madboys, “Let rip!” and the madboys reached for their weapons.
”Oi wait!” Drazzok exclaimed, but he as too late and rather than setting him down on the ground, the madboys holding him aloft simply let go and dropped him, “Bleedin’ loonies.” He muttered as he picked himself up and then collected his staff.

One of Gorgoga’s troops fired the rocket launcher he was armed with over the shield wall. The weapon was not designed as an anti-infantry weapon but its effect was dramatic. The rocket sped towards the charging mob and struck one of the orks at the front of it. The round punched through the lightweight armour he wore and embedded itself in his chest before it exploded. The blast tore the unfortunate ork apart and sent pieces of him flying in all directions. But he was just one ork and the mob kept on coming.

Rell burst out onto the roof and made sure to get clear of the door before he could get in the way of his stormtroopers. With no obvious targets presenting themselves he headed straight for the edge of the roof, hoping to get a good look at the state of the battle. Behind him Torris led his squad out onto the roof.
”Spread out and secure this position.” He ordered and the stormtroopers began to form a circle, expanding it as they all approached the edges of the roof. Lenard kicked a pile of wooden boxes as he neared them, not expecting them to contain anything of use. But as the wood splintered it revealed a gretchin cowering amongst them and it squealed as it leapt up at the startled Lenard. The gretchin grabbed hold of his webbing and used it to pull himself up before sinking his teeth into the stormtrooper’s throat between his body armour and helmet. He screamed, but the cry was cut off as blood began to fill his throat. Then he dropped his hellgun and fell to his knees, clutching at his neck in an attempt to stem the bleeding.

Henner spun around and fired a short burst before the gretchin could get away, the laser blasts cooking its organs.

“Medicae!” Henner then shouted as he rushed to Lenard’s side, but as Dern rushed to join them Lenard suddenly went limp and collapsed. Dern looked around at Torris and shook his head.

“Leave him for now.” The sergeant ordered, “Secure this roof.”
