Most of the orks from the warband were not led into Kazkal Kromag’s throne room, only the nobs, Batrug and Drazzok were admitted though all of the humans and Hazug’s non-human servants were also shown in. As they entered the various orks already present made room for them, none wanting to be between the warboss and those he was angry with.

As he walked into the room Hazug looked towards the throne itself, a new reinforced version of the one that had been present on his last visit and he could tell that what Fullgrup had said about the warboss being unhappy was correct. Kazkal glared directly at Hazug, looking away only to briefly examine the surviving space marines as they followed, snarling at them.

“Explain yaself Hazug.” Kazkal said.

“Wot’s to explain boss?” Hazug asked, “Ya told me to get of da genestealers and dat’s just wot I did.”

“Ya took gits up to da ‘ulk!” Kazkal yelled, getting up from his throne and striding towards Hazug. Around him the other orks stepped further back, “And wot’s with dese beakies?” he yelled, pointing his power claw towards Claudius and his marines, “Ya never said anythin’ about dare bein’ beakies ‘ere. Ya know I wouldn’t let ya use dem.”

“I didn’t find ‘em until ya’d already told me to deal with da genestealers boss.” Hazug said, “And dare wasn’t chance after dat.”

“Well if all da genestealers is dead den ya don’t need ‘m no more do ya?” Kazkal said, “And I don’t want ‘em ‘angin’ about so dat dey can go tellin’ anyone about wot I’m plannin’ for me Waaargh.”

Hazug frowned.

“But boss, wot does it matter if da Imperium knows about ‘ow we’s gonna attack da tyrannids?”
”We aint attackin’ no tyrannids!” Kazkal bellowed and most in the room flinched at his sudden outburst.

“What about our agreement?” Rell asked when he heard the translation of this and his servitor repeated his words in orkish.

“I don’t make deals with da git Imperium!” Kazkal snapped. Then he looked around,” And pretty soon da Imperium is gonna find out just ‘ow strong I is.” Then there was a cheer from amongst the other orks present before Kromag added, “So dare aint gonna be no more gits goin’ up to da ‘ulk where dey can sabotage it.”

“He’s going to kill us isn’t he?” Sophie whispered to Hazug, but the Blood Axe nob remained silent.

“Take da beakies to da pits.” Kazkal ordered, “Tonight I’ll deal with dat nob of dares in person. Den Hazug and ‘is mates ‘ere’ll face da rest of ‘em. I wants ‘em to prove who’s side dey is on.”

“Wot about da other gits boss?” a nob standing beside the throne asked and Kazkal stared briefly at the humans.

“Send ‘em all back to Git Town. Da pansy an’ all.” He said, “Dey can stay dare until we’s gone. I don’t care wot dey do den.” Then he looked straight at Hazug. “Ya got all dat Blood Axe?” he asked.

Hazug looked round, first at the humans and orks from his warband and then at the various other orks present.

“No.” he said just as Kazkal began to return to his throne.
”Wot?” Kazkal demanded, peering back round at Hazug.

“I said ‘no’ boss.” Hazug said, “Ya’s got it wrong.”
”Wrong? ‘Ow can I ‘ave it wrong?” Kazkal said, once again facing Hazug.

“Da humans ‘ave always been good to us boss.” Hazug began, “Not just on dis planet either. Everywhere we goes dare is always humans nearby for us to fight. Dey do fight an’ all don’t dey? Dey don’t run and ‘ide like da tau or da eldar. When we sends warbands to attack ‘em dey uses dare own lads to try and stop us in straight up fights. Sometimes we wins and sometimes dey does, but dares always a decent battle and loot to be ‘ad.”
”Pah!” Kazkal exclaimed, waving his power claw in a dismissive manner, “Dey aint our friends.”
”Den why is dey offerin’ us da chance to take part in one of da biggest fights we’ve ever seen?” Hazug replied, “Dis fight’ll last for years boss. It’ll be far bigger dan any fight we’d get from da Imperium around ‘ere. We should attack da tyrannids. If we don’t den dare may not be any humans for us to fight much longer.”

“I is da warboss Hazug.” Kazkal replied, “I decides wot we attacks and when we attacks ‘em. Now I says dat we attacks da gits and I is tellin’ ya to do as ya’s told.”

“No.” Hazug said once more, “We attack da tyrannids.”

“Ya aint da boss Hazug.” Kazkal said.

“Maybe I ought to be den.” Hazug replied.
”Wot? Ya’s just a Blood Axe. Ya aint got it in ya to take me on.” Kazkal said.
”And if ya reckons we should attack da Imperium den ya aint got da brains of me grot.” Hazug said and he held his warscythe out in front of him, “So wotcha gonna do?” he asked.

“I’m gonna show you and everyone else who’s da real boss around ‘ere.” Kazkal replied and he reached to his power claw with his exposed hand and pulled the staring cord.

The power claw roared into life and Kazkal swung it at Hazug, hoping to inflict a swift and lethal blow that would end the fight right there. But even with the assistance of his mega armour Kazkal could not move the claw fast enough and Hazug rolled out of the way so that when the claw came down all it did was rip a gouge out of the floor where Hazug had been stood just a moment earlier.

“Get back ‘ere ya git lover!” Kazkal snapped as he straightened up and turned around. At the same time Hazug activated his warscythe and lunged at the warboss. Years of experience fighting at close quarters gave Kazkal the ability to spot some attacks coming and Hazug’s was easy enough to see that Kazkal was able to deflect the warscythe with a swipe of his power claw before using the exposed fist of his other hand to punch Hazug in the face, dazing him momentarily and raising a cheer from most of the crowd. Kazkal saw his chance and swung his power claw again.

“No!” Sophie screamed and she took a step forwards before Two Heads grabbed hold of her.

“Don’t.” one head told. Then the other added, “Dis ‘as gotta be done.”

Hazug recovered in time to see the attack coming and rather than attempt to evade this as he had done with the last one he instead raised his warscythe, putting the blade between himself and Kazkal’s power claw. Kazkal saw this and tried to divert his attack. But although he was able to pull back the shell of the power claw in which his fist was encased, the three energy-wrapped claws themselves struck the warscythe blade edge on and there was a sudden flash of green light as the two competing fields interacted with one another. Since Batrug had repaired the alien weapon, Hazug had used it against targets protected by the thickest armour and advanced energy fields. So the field surrounding the claws did nothing to protect them and there was a clatter as all three were cut right through and fell to the floor. As the blade cut through the claws it also briefly shorted out the conductive elements generating the field they were wrapped in and this allow the energy to feed right back into the generator on Kazkal’s arm. There was a sudden ‘pop’ and a shower of sparks before smoke began to billow out of the power claw’s casing.
”I don’t need no klaw to deal with da likes of ya.” Kazkal hissed as he took several paces backwards to get out of the reach of Hazug’s warscythe and released the latches holding his power claw to his arm. Then as the power claw dropped to the floor Kazkal charged at Hazug, roaring with anger.

Hazug extended his warscythe out in front of him, intending to try and impale the warboss through his chest. However, before he could properly align his weapon Kazkal reached out with both hands and grabbed hold of the shaft, trying to rip it free of Hazug’s grip.

The sheer weight of Kazkal and his mega armour threw Hazug off balance and he fell sideways, pulling Kazkal down with him. As he hit the floor Hazug cried out in pain as he felt some of the ribs on the same side as Kazkal breaking.

“’Ad enough yet?” Kazkal asked as the pair continued to struggle for possession of the warscythe, “I tell ya wot, just give me dis fancy choppa and I’ll let ya go. Ya can go and live in Git Town with ya git mates while we gets ready to go and kill a few million of ‘em.”

Hazug did not say anything in response to this; instead he drew back his head and then butted Kazkal’s exposed face. Startled by this sudden attack Kazkal relaxed his grip on the warscythe and Hazug yanked it away from him, scrabbling back across the floor to put some room between the pair of them before getting back to his feet, wincing from the pain in his chest.

“Slowin’ down boss?” he said as Kazkal also got back to his feet, slowed by the bulk of his armour and in return Kazkal just snarled.
”Fast enough.” He replied before charging Hazug again.

This time Hazug waited longer before reacting, so when he raised his warscythe it was too late for Kazkal to do anything about it. However, it also meant that it was too late for Hazug to position the bulky weapon to inflict a killing blow. Instead as the blade came up it met one of Kazkal’s wrist just as he attempted to reach out and grab the shaft again. Now it was Kazkal that roared in pain as the blade sliced of his hand at the wrist and for a moment he clutched at the stump as he and Hazug circled one another, staring at each other intently.

Hazug leapt forwards, holding up his warscythe. But once again Kazkal anticipated the direction of the strike and he swung the stump of his arm out in front of him. This struck the shaft of the warscythe and slowed it enough for Kazkal to reach out with his remaining hand and grab hold of it again.

Though Hazug still had the use of both hands, Kazkal was able to retain his grip. Then Hazug let go with one hand and attempted to twist the warscythe away from Kazkal.

“I aint lettin’ go,“ Kazkal said, “and ya aint strong enough to beat me with just one ‘and.”

Hazug grinned.

“But I got two ‘ands still,” He replied, “and ya aint seen wot I’s ‘oldin’ in da other yet.” And he jammed the pistol he had just pulled from his belt under Kazkal’s chin.

The shot echoed around the throne room and a plume of blood and tissue sprayed upwards as the bullet exited through the top of the warboss’ skull. Then Hazug simply shoved the corpse backwards and let it crash to the floor. Then he looked around at the crowd that had gone silent the moment Kazkal died.

“Well?” Hazug yelled as he looked around, “Wotcha gonna do now? Any more of ya reckon ya can take me on? Come and ‘ave a go if ya think ya’s ‘ard enough.”

For a moment nothing happened, not a single greenskin in the room could believe that Kazkal Kromag was dead by the hand of Hazug Throatslitter of the Blood Axe clan. By all ork tradition this made Hazug the new warboss. Unless of course someone else stepped forwards to challenge him.

A roar from the crowd alerted Hazug to a threat as a large nob in the colours of the Death Skulls clan leapt forwards and charged at him with a massive axe held high.

Hazug ducked as the Death Skull swung his axe and then swung his own warscythe around just above the floor. The Death Skull’s roar then became a scream as he legs were both cut out from under him and he found himself falling uncontrollably to the floor. As he lay on his back looking upwards he saw Hazug looming over him and aiming his pistol down at him. Then Hazug fired again and again, pumping bullets into the Death Skull’s chest even after he was dead and only stopping when the gun was empty and he tossed it aside.

Then he held his warscythe horizontally in both hands and looked around again.
”Okay, who’s next?” he asked.

Then from his place amongst the leaders of Hazug’s warband Two Heads stepped forwards, one hand resting on the hilt of his hyperphase sword.

“Two Heads!” Sophie exclaimed, “No! You can’t!”

“Oh yes ‘e can.” Drazzok responded with a grin, “’E’s finally actin’ like a proper ork.”

“So it comes down to dis does it?” Hazug asked Two Heads, looking down at his friend’s sword.

“Looks like it does.” One of Two Heads replied as the other looked around at the crowd. Then the second head looked at Hazug and added, “So wot’re ya orders boss?” and he moved his hand away from his sword.

“Ya gotta be kiddin’ me.” Drazzok said in annoyance.

Hazug shut off his warscythe and looked around one last time to make sure that there were no more challengers to his new authority.

“I needs to speak to all da ship bosses.” He said, “I needs to let ‘em know dat we’ll be ‘eadin’ for da tyrannids when al da lads is loaded onto da ‘ulk.”

“Sod dis.” Drazzok said out loud, “I’s goin’ ‘ome.” And he turned around and began to walk away. Then when he realised that Thuggrim was not following him he looked back at him, “Well? Wotcha waitin’ for?” he asked.

“I wants to ‘ear wot da new boss ‘as to say.” Thuggrim replied.

“Pah!” Drazzok exclaimed, “turning back around to walk away, “Stay ‘ere den. Who’d notice one more loony in dis place?”

Meanwhile Hazug walked over to the throne, now his throne and he slumped down into it, wincing as he felt the pain of his broken ribs.

“Wot about all dese gits boss?” one of the gathered nobs asked, looking at the humans and marines. Hazug looked at them as well and thought for a moment.

“We don’t need any of ‘em any more.” He said, “Send ‘em all to Git Town. We’ll be gone before long and dey can do wotever dey wants after dat.”

“But Hazug-“ Sophie called out, looking briefly at her sister and then at Hazug again.

“Shuddup git!” Ratish hissed before rushing to take his place beside Hazug’s throne, “Master don’t want ya ‘ere no more.”

“’E’s right.” Hazug told Sophie, “Go.” Then he spotted a bag of teeth that Kazkal had kept beside his throne for any small expenses that happened to crop up and he picked it up and tossed it at her, “Take it.” He said as the bag landed at her feet, “It’ll be enough for ya to live off.” Then he reached out a platter of squig meat that Kazkal had snacked on and grabbed a large handful before taking a bite out of it and chewing it. Then after he swallowed the food he looked at Ratish, “Bring more of dis.” He ordered, “I’m gonna need a lot.”
