There was a time when the mere sight of ork vehicles entering Git Town would have sent the human population running, typically only bored orks had come here when they ran out of other orks to fight. But since the declaration by Kazkal Kromag that anyone using humans for such entertainment would be killed the humans had had the chance to alter their reactions. Now though the two vehicles still attracted attention, since there were few such vehicles of any description in Git Town it did not trigger any panic.

“Rhia! Where to?” Hazug yelled.

“Trent Street.” Rhia replied from where she sat in the back of the truck, sandwiched between a pair of orks who glared at her suspiciously. Neither had been part of the group when she had last encountered them, but they had been warned about her history.

Hazug frowned; he was familiar enough with human custom to know that they gave names to almost everything to distinguish them from other things that were almost the same.

“Just point me in da direction.” He said and it was Rhia’s turn to frown.

“I can’t like this.” She said, lifting her wrists as far as the chain linking them to her ankles would allow.

“Den just call out da turns.” Hazug said and Rhia sighed.

“Second left.” She told him and then she grabbed hold of the bench on which she sat as best she could, just in time as Hazug swerved to turn the corner at high speed, “It’s at the end of this street.” She then said, “The last apartment block.”

Hazug brought his truck to a sudden halt just outside the building and leapt down.

“Ratish! Me shoota!” he snapped and Ratish passed him his custom built rifle. In addition to the standard rifle barrel, Hazug’s weapon featured a single shot rocket launcher mounted beneath it. He doubted that that part of the weapon would be necessary when storming a building, but in his experience it never hurt to have a powerful explosive to hand just in case.

“Is someone going to help me down?” Rhia asked as the other passengers in the truck disembarked, joined by Two Heads and the rest of his troops from the battlewagon that pulled up behind.

“Leave da git master.” Ratish said, “It can’t be trusted.”

“He’s right Hazug.” Sophie agreed as she loaded and checked her lasgun. Ratish immediately scowled at her, angry that she was agreeing with him.

“Ratish said it first.” He hissed.

“Two Heads.” Hazug said as he looked up at the apartment building, “Send some of ya lads around da back. I wants to make sure dat dare aint a back way out dat dese humans can use. ‘Ave some more wait down ‘ere and four of five of can come with us.”

Two Heads both nodded and he began to divide up his troops into three groups. Mean whole Hazug pulled Rhia down from the truck and stood her on the pavement.

“Ya is goin’ in first.” He told her as he took hold of the chain connected to her collar, “Dat way if ya is plannin’ some sort of trap den ya’ll be da first one wot gets shot. Goddit?” and Rhia nodded. Hazug then looked at his other servants, “Mayleth and Ratish stick with me. Sophie and Salia stay back behind Two Heads and ‘is lads.” There were nods of agreement and Hazug shoved Rhia towards the building’s front door, “Go on den. Show us da way.” He ordered.

It was slow going for Rhia to get up the stairs of the apartment block, the chain between her legs limiting her to taking just one step at a time. But she led Hazug and his group right to the apartment where Cutter lived.

“This one.” She said.
”So da gits we is after is in dare?” one of Two Heads asked.

“Careful.” Hazug responded quietly, “Don’t let ‘em ‘ear ya.” Then he looked at Rhia, “Well?” he asked, “Are dey?”

“I don’t know.” She replied, “But Cutter lives here.”

“Only one way to find out den.” Hazug said and he stepped past Rhia and as he let go of her chain he delivered a sudden strong kick that broke open the flimsy wooden door in one go, “Waaargh!” he yelled as he rushed inside.
”Waaargh!” Two Heads copied and he and the other orks followed Hazug into the apartment.

Mayleth and Ratish also rushed forwards through the door, slipping past the orks. Meanwhile out on the landing Rhia turned as Salia and Sophie approached from the stairs.

“Not thinking of leaving were you?” Sophie asked, directing her lasgun at Rhia one handed while she scooped up her control chain in the other.

Rhia gulped as she stared down the muzzle of the weapon.
”Of course not.” She replied.

Inside the apartment Hazug spotted a moving shadow on a wall through a door ahead of him and he ran straight towards it.

“Stay where ya is!” he shouted in gothic, assuming that the human Rhia had referred to as Cutter would not be able to understand orkish. Then as he burst into the room he heard a distinctive mechanical sound and he dived forwards just as Cutter fired his shotgun. The blast clipped Hazug’s side and he roared with anger. Then there was the rattle of automatic fire as Two Heads raked the room with fire in return. However, in typical ork fashion the burst was poorly aimed and before he hit Cutter with any of the bullets his weapon was empty.

“Soddit!” one head snapped at the same time as the other yelled, “Runt brain! Ya used all da bullets!” and he reached for an extra magazine. However the bulky Evil Sun nob held his position in the doorway, thus blocking anyone else from getting into the room.

Facing Cutter alone Hazug opted not to return fire, wanting to take the man alive if at all possible. Instead he charged across the room as Cutter chambered another round in his weapon and took aim at the Blood Axe. The shotgun boomed again just as Hazug reached out as knocked the barrel aside, sending the blast into a nearby wall instead. As Cutter tried to chamber a third round Hazug gripped the shotgun tightly by its barrel while at the same time he dropped his own rifle and grabbed Cutter by his throat.
”Let go of it!” he yelled, but Cutter continued to try and swing his weapon around to face Hazug.

It was then that Mayleth was able to slip past Two Heads in the doorway and she slid across the floor to deliver a kick to one of Cutter’s knees and the man gave out a yelp as both he and Hazug collapsed in a heap. Unfortunately Mayleth was still beneath them when this happened and the dark eldar woman ended up pinned beneath them both as all three attempted to get back to their feet.

Cutter was the first to stand up, his shotgun still in his hands. But even as he took aim at Hazug’s head he felt the massive weight of Two Heads slam into him from behind.

“No ya don’t!” one head yelled in orkish.

The powerful blow sent Cutter stumbling forwards, narrowly avoiding tripping over Hazug and Mayleth as they both got back to their feet. Both his heads glaring at Cutter, Two Heads then clenched a fist and punched him the face as hard as he could. There was a ‘crunch’ as the man’s nose collapsed from the blow and he was hurled back again, only this time there was no room for him to go before reaching the window.

There was the breaking of glass as Cutter struck the window with enough force to go right through it and there was a shriek as he plummeted down the side of the apartment building to the ground several storeys below. To the orks in the apartment it seemed that the shrieking just suddenly stopped, the sound of the impact not loud enough for them to hear as far up as they were.

“Ya berk!” one of Two Heads snapped, turning to look at the other as best as he could, “Look wot ya just did!”

“Wot d’ya mean me?” the other head replied, “Ya was da one wot ‘it ‘im.”

The first head just scowled and without warning poked the other in the eye.
”Ow! Right, I’ll ‘ave ya for dat!”

“Not now Two Heads!” Hazug yelled as he went to the window and peered out into the street in front of the building. Far below he saw the crumpled form of Cutter, outlined in red from the blood that sprayed around him when he landed. Around him the orks Two Heads had left there to watch the main entrance and also guard their vehicles were inspecting the corpse. One of them looked up to see where the man had come from and saw Hazug looking back down at him.
”Dis git looks pretty dead.” The ork shouted.

Hazug did not reply to this, instead he pulled his head back inside and picked up the shotgun that had been dropped just by the window.

“Anyone else found anyone in ‘ere?” he called out, hoping that there may have been a second human in the apartment that could be questioned, but the only replies he got were in the negative.

“Master.” Ratish then said, “Let’s go. Git home smell bad.”

For a moment Hazug thought that this was just one of the typical put downs of humans that Ratish often came out with. But then he noticed that there was an unusual aroma in the apartment and he sniffed, trying to determine where it was coming from. The smell was rotten, like a decayed body or the rank stench of a bucket used for holding bodily waste that had not been emptied out into the street. Rhia had not mentioned anything about a strong smell when she had mentioned being here and Hazug knew that it was not normal for humans to live with such a smell.

“Everyone look around.” He ordered, “Find out wot stinks in ‘ere.”

Immediately the orks set about searching the apartment, overturning furniture and emptying cupboards and drawers and scattering the contents across the floor. But it was Ratish, with his more keenly honed sense of smell provided by his larger nose that located the source of aroma inside a sack in the hallway.

“Throne! That’s disgusting.” Sophie exclaimed from by the front door as the sack was opened, “It smells almost as bad as Ratish.”

“Does not!” Ratish snapped back.

“The lesser beast is right mon keigh.” Mayleth said as she emerged from the room at the far end of the hall. If the smell was bothering her then she gave no indication, instead maintaining her usual calm demeanour, “The smell is no where near as bad as the small one.”

“Let’s just what’s in dare.” Hazug said and Ratish reached into the sack.

“Boots master.” Ratish said as he pulled the first of a pair of boots from the sack. The boots themselves were stout and still in good condition. But the soles were caked in what at first glance looked to be just mud, though the smell gave away the likelihood that there was something far less pleasant mixed in with it as well.

Hazug looked out into the hallway.
”Well?” he asked Rhia, “Were dese ‘ere when ya was?”

“No.” she replied, shaking her head, “If they had been I’d have asked for more money.”
”Just what were you doing here anyway?” Salia asked, “If you don’t work with these people any more I mean?”

“I have to earn living.” Rhia replied, “And thanks to most people having the same opinion of me as all of you I didn’t much choice. Apart from starvation.”

“What?” Salia asked.

“She sells her body for the pleasure of others mon keigh.” Mayleth commented with a smile, “I wish I had known that we first met. Perhaps I could have negotiated a price.”

“So if dese muddy boots wasn’t ‘ere when she was where’s ‘e been since den?” Hazug asked out loud.

“Ratish knows master.” Ratish replied and the orks all looked down at the gretchin.

“’Ow does a grot know anythin’?” one of the Evil Suns asked.

“Cause dis is muck from by da river innit?” Hazug said, “Dat’s when I first found ya.” And Ratish grinned and nodded rapidly.

“Yes master.” He said, “From da spoil ‘eaps.”

“Den dat’s where we needs to go next.” Hazug said. Then he turned to look at Two Heads, “Or at least some of us. I wants ya to stay ‘ere with ya lads and empty everythin’ out of dis place.” He said, waving an arm around at the items now scattered all over the apartment floor, “Dare may be somethin’ else amongst ‘em dat’s important but I don’t wanna waste time lookin’ through it all ‘ere.”

“I’ll move back to me garage.” Two Heads replied.

“Good.” Hazug said, “Now dis Cutter probably walked wherever ‘e went so I is gonna walk an’ all so I needs ya to take me trukk back as well.”
”Goddit.” One of Two Heads agreed and then the other added, “Ya want any of me lads to go with ya? A grot, a pansy and a couple of gits aint much if ya runs into trouble. Especially if ya is takin’ dat other git with ya an’ all.”

“Of course I is takin’ ‘er.” Hazug replied, “I needs ‘er to identify any ‘er old mates we may run into dare.”
”Den its settled. “Two Heads said, “Ya can take Daggot and Rurkon.” And the other head looked around at the two orks he had just named, “Ya ‘eard! Go with Hazug and do as ‘e says. Remember ‘e's da biggest.”

“Yes boss.” Daggot called out in response, while Rurkon just frowned at the news that he would not be given the opportunity to search through the loot from the apartment before the others had already had a go.
